In Living Color

I got a pleasant surprise yesterday when I got my most recent roll of film developed. Color! I could have sworn that both of my cameras had black and white film in them when I went down to the redwoods. As you can see, I was wrong. Starting with the kitties, the rest of the shots were all taken while I was wandering around the neighborhood trying to finish out the roll.

In other news, I just finished shooting my first roll of tri-x 400 film. It's my first time shooting with that kind of film, and with an ND filter on my lens. So hopefully those turn out well. If not, I've got five more rolls to figure out what I'm doing. I also recently found out that I can use hearing aid batteries to make the light meter work on my Canon FT, since the original mercury based batteries are no longer available. So that's pretty sweet.

Winter Light

I love those days in the winter when it's not rainy, and the sun is out. The light is so good. It can even make the walk from my house to the mini mall up the street seem not so lame. Been hiking a lot, and it feels like spring is coming soon, so look out for more nature photos. I noticed a little bit of black showing up in the side of the shots from this roll. The last time that started to happen, was when the shutter took a crap on my last camera. Lets hope that doesn't happen again.

Criss-crossing Cascadia

A little while back I was doing some cleaning. Going through old boxes, clearing out clutter, and the such. I found some old rolls of undeveloped film. Some color, some black and white, some from before I knew anything about taking photos. But like with anything, try enough times, and something will work out. These are some of the color shots that worked out. I think these were from around 2-4 years ago. Vancouver B.C., Olympia, and Roseburg I think. The photos from the black and white rolls will be up in a few days, or whenever I have some time I feel like killin.

up and over

Shortly after I got that new camera to replace my broken one, I broke it. It's fixed now thanks to the lovely people at Blue Moon. About a month ago I sprained my ankle really bad, so I've been stuck inside for most of August. Going a little stir crazy I scanned a bunch of old and random stuff. So you may be seeing some non-photo stuff, like that first picture up there. Or maybe not. We'll see. I have a little project I'm working on with my cell phone cam(which i admit is kind of lame), but I need to take way more pictures before that gets posted up. Till next time..

not always as smart as you think

Back from Wisconsin. I didn't take a ton of pictures while I was out of town, again. Fortunately though this roll that I just got back had a bunch of good stuff on it. Proof of my hurt ankle, good shots of some friends, some more dead birds, and a cute little raccoon that had been hanging out in my mom's barn. I'm about to head out to first Thursdays and check out the galleries before work. If you're out in Portland and looking for cool photos and good coffee, stop by Crema, at SE 28th and Ankeny because my pal Brent(vivasalo.blogspot.com) has a photo show there that is opening tonight. Check it out. Enjoy.
